Abstract

506,093. Moulding concrete pipes. EICHENBERGER, G. April 19, 1938. No. 11732. [Class 87 (ii)) A machine for moulding concrete pipes comprises a rotatable disc 4 mounted on a platform 15, outer moulds 5 mounted in holes in the disc 4, a hopper 3 for filling the moulds, and a plunger 19, conforming to the length and inner diameter of the pipe, which is introduced and withdrawn from below to shape the pipe. A ring 8 corresponding to the thickness of the pipe wall is placed on the mould and centred by lugs 9. The mould is held down on the disc 4 by a stirrup 10 actuated by toggles 11. Insertions 17, 18, Fig. 5, are provided for the holes in the disc 4 and platform 15 to accommodate moulds of varying diameter. The plunger 19 carries an S-shaped member 21 on its upper surface and is carried by a shaft 23 which is screwed in a fixed upright 27. The shaft 23 is rotated and raised by a bevel gear 30. A plate 38 is provided to catch falling cement. In a modification, Fig. 5, the ring 8 is secured to a shaft 40 which is slidable in a bevel gear 43 by which it is rotated. The ring 8 may also be retained by a sleeve -like extension on the mould. A ring 48 is provided at the base of the mould which is engaged by projections 51 on a collar 49 on the base of the plunger 19 so that the ring 48 is rotated and smooths the pipe end. The mould is filled from the hopper 3 and then the disc 4 is rotated to bring the mould over the plunger 19.
