Abstract

1,102,372. Vertical pipe casting. BETON MAATSCHAPPIJ " DE PEEL " N.V. 12 Feb., 1965, No. 6210/65. Heading B5A. A pipe, of e.g. concrete, is cast in a vertical annular mould 7 on a shaped ring 10, carried by a ram 8, the ring being initially flush with the upper end of the mould and being gradually lowered as the casting proceeds. In this way the concrete does not drop into the mould but can be horizontally deposited, from e.g. a hopper and a plate, on to the upper surface of the concrete already cast in the mould cavity, and thus demixing is prevented. As the ram and ring move downwards vibrators 14 are sequentially started to consolidate the material. The finished pipe is ejected from the mould by re-raising the ring and ram, the core 6 moving upwardly with the pipe during its initial movement, after which the core is halted and the pipe completely ejected.
