Abstract
1,113,629. Slip-casting. JASBA-KERAMIKFABRIKEN, JACOB SCHWADERLAPP KOMM. GES. 13 Aug., 1965 [17 Aug., 1964], No. 34773/65. Heading B5A. A mould for forming ceramic articles comprises a skeleton structure made of cement or synthetic plastics material with interconnecting pores filled with a porous material. The porous material may comprise kieselguhr, granulated sintered metal or granulated sintered ceramic material. The mould may be manufactured by pouring into a mould a mixture of a selfhardening carrier material, a porous material and a binder. Such a cast mould may form a mould 6, Fig. 3, for slip casting, the mould comprising a matrix and a ram, both mould parts being backed by a sand filling 7 to which water is fed from containers 9. In the apparatus of Fig. 4 (not shown), the mould 6<SP>1</SP> for receiving slip is mounted in a container 51 which may contain sand and be supplied with water from containers 11. Bars of sintered metal may be embedded in the edges of the mould.
