Abstract
1,252,500. Ceramics. INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORP. 9 May, 1969 [21 May, 1968], No. 23683/69. Heading C1J. A ceramic part is obtained by mixing a sinterable ceramic powder with a gelatable binder until a consistent slurry is formed adding a gelating agent and re-mixing to reform the consistent slurry, pouring the slurry into a mould impervious to liquids of the slurry, removing air from the slurry by placing the mould in a vacuum chamber, and then returning to atmospheric pressure, the slurry remaining in the mould until set, removing the part from the mould in a surrounding allowing controlled rate of removal of liquids from the moulded part, leaving the part in the surrounding until all liquids have gone, without crack formation, and finally sintering. Specified ceramics are BaTiO 3 ; Al 2 O 3 + CaCO 3 + talc. + clay, whilst the binder is a mixture of EtSiO 3 , EtOH, H 2 O and HCl. The agent is NH 4 OHŒEtOH, and the surrounding water is a humidity chamber.
