Abstract
310,510. Soc. Anon. des Hauts-Fourneaux et Fonderies de Pont-a- Mousson. April 27, 1928, [Convention date]. Moulding-machines.-A centrifugal mould for casting pipes is formed by filling sand between a flask and a core smaller than the outer diameter of the pipe to be obtained and then moving a core equal to said diameter longitudinally through the flask. The flask 1 has trunnions 3 to engage a. turret 4 by which it is brought between a fluid operated press 9 and a centring frame 6. The plunger 7, Fig. 2, is raised to cause a centring member 13 to engage and lift the flask until it is centred by the frame 6. A core 18, Fig. 4, having an enlarged head 20 is then inserted, the head being engaged by a socket member 16 and resting on a projection 17 carried by an inner plunger 8. Sand from a supply 21, Fig. 1, is then introduced by a screw 22 and vibrators 15 are operated. The plunger 8 is then raised to lift the core 18 and member 16 to compress the sand at g, Fig. 4. The core is finally raised by a winch 25, Fig. 1, to compress the sand f, Fig. 4, by the conical part 18<a> and head 20.
