Abstract

Moulding pipes and tubes.-In a concrete pipe-making machine, comprising an outer mould and a core between which the concrete is tamped, the core is withdrawn helically from the pipe, the inner surface of which is smoothed by a trowel curved at the lower end of the core. The mould 6 is divided vertically into two parts 6<a>, 6<b> held together by clamping handles 8, and is enlarged at the top 11 to form a socket. The core 9 is carried by a shaft 1 adapted to be raised and lowered and simultaneously rotated; the trowel 29 is secured to the shaft so as to project slightly beyond the base of the core, and its " sweep " may be adjusted by a double acting screw 30, Fig. 4. An annular plate 12, formed of two hinged parts sliding on standards 2, rests on the top of the mould and carries radial bars 15 adapted to support a socket-forming ring 17 within the mouth of the mould.
