Abstract
674,426. Buttons. GAUNT & SON, Ltd., J. R., and GAUNT, W. F. Nov. 28, 1950 [Jan. 2, 1950], No. 4/50. Class 43. A button comprises a length of wire, the ends of which are formed into a head attachment position 11 to which a peripheral surrounding flange 17 of a sheet metal head 16 is secured, the central part of the wire being formed into a depending loop 12. The head attachment portion comprises two semi-circular parts 11 lying in the same plane and connected to the loop 12 by straight parts 13; the flange 17 of the head 16 may be spun or pressed tightly over the parts 11, its edge 18 being either directed towards the loop 12 or bent round to lie parallel to the parts 11. When the button is to be used for tufting the sides of the loop 12 are bent towards one another at 15 to form sloping shoulders beneath the head, but for ordinary purposes the loop may be of U shape. The outer face of the head 16 may be flat or curved and may be depressed centrally. The wire may be circular, square or rectangular in cross section.
