Abstract
647,376. Buttons. PAYNE, C. F. Aug. 27, 1948, No. 22639. [Class 43] Fastening means for a button, badge or the like, comprises a rigidly associated set of slender prongs 1, of half-round cross section, which taper to points 3, the latter being pressed through the material 4 and being so shaped that they curve back on themselves to enter the material 4 when a hard body 5 is pressed against them. The prongs 1, with their flat faces inwards and their points bent inwardly, are fixed in a circular ridge 9 on the back of the button 2, which may be of plastic; they are made of metal, e.g. of heavy gauge brass or bronze wire or of light gauge rod. Their roots 10, which are embedded in the button, may be of round or angular section. In a modification, the prongs are fixed in a disc-like head, e.g. of plastic or metal, and are passed through the usual thread holes of a button, the head either resting against the outer surface of the button or. being embedded therein.
