Abstract

674,289. Refrigerating. ELECTROLUX, Ltd. June 16, 1950 [June 28, 1949; June 28, 1949; June 28, 1949]. No. 15063/50. Class 29. In an absorption refrigerating system of the continuous cycle inert gas type in which absorption liquid is raised in the vapour expulsion unit by a vapour lift pump, the liquid raised by the pump is divided into two streams one of which returns to the suction side of the pump and the other of which is supplied to the absorber. In Fig. 1, strong solution flows through the inner path 154 of liquid-heat exchanger 131 and enters an analysing conduit 133 at a point 134. Solution flows from the: bottom of conduit 133 to vapour lift pump 135 the top of which is closed and is formed with two lateral openings 141, 140, the former leading solution to the boiler 111 through a pipe 143, and the latter leading solution through a pipe 148 to enter the analysing conduit at a point 146. Vapours expelled in the boiler flow through pipe 143, openings 141, 140 and pipe 148 to the analyser. Alternatively, the vapours may pass from pipe 143 to pipe 148 through a pipe byepassing the openings. In Fig. 3, the liquid heat-exchanger is formed with an outer rectifying jacket 572 and the system contains a corrosion inhibiting substance. In order that this substance may reach the rectifier jacket the latter is also traversed by strong solution divided from the main solution flow path. The upper end of the vapour lift pump 535 is closed and has lateral openings 541, 540, the former leading solution by a pipe 543 to the boiler 511 and the latter leading solution by a pipe 571 to the jacket 572, whence it flows through a U-tube 577 welded to the flue to pump the solution into an analysing conduit 533. Vapours expelled in the boiler flow through a pipe 545 to enter the analyser at a point 546. They then flow through a pipe 570, the pipe 571, the rectifier jacket 572 and a pipe 574 to the condenser.
