Abstract
960,210. Film evaporators. APPAREILS ET EVAPORATEURS KESTNER. Jan. 17, 1961 [Nov. 9, 1960], No. 1861/61. Heading B1B. An evaporator of the climbing film type comprises a nest of vertical tubes 2 (only two of which are shown) in a heating chest I, a centrifugal baffle 6 mounted at the outlet of the tubes, and an annular liquid/vapour separator 8 surrounding the upper end of the heating chest. The inner wall 10 of the separator is thermally insulated from the outer wall of the heating chest by an air gap. The liquid to be concentrated is introduced through inlet 5 and rises through the tubes 2 while undergoing evaporation in known manner. The mixture of vapour and concentrated liquid impinges against the blades of baffle 6; and the liquid is induced to flow down the outer wall 9 of the separator. This concentrated liquid is withdrawn through outlet 12. The vapour flows through aperture 14 into safety vessel 13, and is then discharged from the evaporator through duct 15.
