Abstract
673,167. Motor - power plant. SOC. D'ETUDES DE MACHINES THERMIQUES. Dec. 29, 1949 [Dec. 30, 1948], No. 33273/49. Class 110(iii) In a power plant comprising a supercharged, four-stroke, multi-crankshaft I.C. engine 1 having a dynamo 4 coupled thereto at the side opposite the power shaft, the supercharger 1a is driven by the exhaust gases of the engine which then pass to a steam boiler 6 feeding an electric turbo generator 7, 8 for the dynamo. The crankshafts of the engine 1 are releasably coupled through individual clutch means to a reduction gearing 3 driving a propeller shaft 2. At least one of the crankshafts is also releasably coupled to the dynamo. The boiler 6 is provided with a burner 10 and may, if desired, be constructed in two sections which are respectively heated by the burner and the exhaust gases.
