Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase output in a short time at starting or the like, by providing an electric supercharger comprising an electric motor and a blower which is rotated by the motor, at one end of the intake manifold of a supercharging unit.
CONSTITUTION: A diesel electricity generator comprises a diesel engine 1 equipped with a supercharging unit 20 and an electricity generator 2 which is driven by the engine. The supercharging unit 20 is composed of an intake manifold 6 connected to the combustion chamber of the engine 1, an exhaust turbosupercharger 3 installed at the right end of the manifold 6 and an electric supercharger 7 installed at the left end of the manifold 6. The electric supercharger 7 consists of a DC motor 8 and a blower 9. The speed of the DC motor 8 is regulated by a controller 11 depending on the output of a speed detector 10 directly coupled to the electricity generator 2. The exhaust turbosupercharger 3 consists of an exhaust turbine 4 and a blower 5.
