Abstract

308,585. Foth, P. March 24, 1928, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. Pumps, rotary.-In the supply of air to fourstroke-cycle engines by means of blowers driven by exhaust turbines the pressure of the air is raised above the exhaust pressure by auxiliary power; this may be effected only between half load and overload or between full load and overload'. In one form an auxiliary motor is mounted on the same shaft as the turbo-blower set. In other arrangements an auxiliary blower set 7, 8 is used in addition to the turbo-blower set 4, 5. The two blowers may be in series or in parallel. The auxiliary motor may be electric supplied with power from a generator driven by the main engine or by a steam or auxiliary internal-combustion eng:ne. The auxiliary blower may be direct coupled to a steam turbine.
