Abstract
672,994. Pressure exchangers. JENDRASSIK, G. Sept. 1, 1950 [Sept. 9, 1949], No. 23432/49. [Class 8 (i)] A pressure exchanger including two structures between which there is relative rotation when the machine is in operation and having adjoining faces between which, despite axial thermal growth, a critical axial distance requires to be maintained to reduce gas leakage, comprises a casing 1 containing two contra-rotating cell rotors 2, 3, between which a critical clearance 14 is to be maintained. The rotor 2 is secured to a shaft 2A carried in and secured to a bearing 17 in fixed axial relation to an extension 16 of an end plate 4 and also axially slidably relatively to the extension 16 in a further bearing 1B. A hollow shaft 19 secured to the opposite end of the rotor 2 is secured to the outer race of a bearing 20 axially slidable in the shaft 2A. The inner race 21 of the bearing 20 is secured to a concentric tubular shaft 22 secured to the inner end of the rotor 3 and the opposite end to a bearing 23A, the outer race of which is secured to an end plate 5 which has an extension 24 axially slidable and supported in a member 25 secured to the other end plate 1A.
