A disc-clutch is engaged by toggle-links l, pivoted at m to a bush d adjustably screwed on the clutch-boss c and carrying rollers n, which press axially on a presser-plate h when thrust radially inwards by further rollers r carried by an axially slidable control-sleeve p. After retraction, the sleeve p can be turned so that chamfers in its end between the rollers r permit the links' l to be pivoted outwards to allow the presser-plate h to be axially retracted sufficiently to allow the clutch disc k, which is segmental, to be removed. Centrifugal force on the rollers n assists engaging pressure and also prevents inadvertent engagement when disengaged.
