A friction clutch is engaged by a radially slotted plate spring 3 actuated by a disengaging ring 1 having a bead 2 contacting the spring and having radial grooves 7 engaged by tongues 6 bent out of the spring. The ring 1 is secured to the spring 3 by means of a strong spring 9 acting between the spring 3 and a sleeve 8 fast with the ring.
