Abstract

672,021. Electric motors. LONDEX, Ltd., and BESSON, A. P. Jan. 4, 1951 [Jan. 5, 1950], No. 328/50. Class 35. A unidirectional motor has is stator winding 4 interrupted by a vibrating reed 16 which is controlled by a spring 14 joining the reed to the disc rotor 16 at an eccentric 15. This spring 14 exerts impulses which maintain the reed 16 vibrating at its natural frequency so as to break and close the stator circuit twice during each resolution of the rotor 16. The reed is made to close the circuit shortly before the rotor 16 reaches its neutral magnetic point. The rotor 16 which is made of soft iron may comprise one or more pairs of poles. An adjustable leakage member may be provided. The rotor can be brought into a favourable position for re-starting by a centrifugally controlled or other device.
