[Also in Group XXXIX] In a motor with an unwound armature for automatic telephone and like switch drives the stator windings are energized in sequence by two distributing members connected alternately to the supply by a changeover switch or a pair of rectifiers acting as such. As shown in Fig. 1 the three stator coils 11, 12, 13 are connected to segments 31, 32, 33 connected to ring 29 or 30 and hence to the supply by brushes 27, 28 rotating with the rotor 23 and the changeover switch A1 is operated so that each coil is energized twice, but in opposite directions, for each revolution of the rotor. Contacts R1, R2, R3 are operated only to reverse the direction of rotation. In Fig. 3, coil 41 of a two-coil stator is energized through cam-operated contacts M<5>, M<6>, and coil 42 through M<7> and M<8>, while rectifiers MRA and MRB complete the circuits for the coils in alternate half-cycles, the supply 51, 52 being A.C. The rotor may be permanently magnetized.
