Abstract
672,000. Transformers and inductances. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Nov. 6, 1950 [Nov. 10, 1949], No. 27065/50. Drawings to Specification. Class 38 (ii). A magnetic core for stationary electrical induction apparatus comprises a plurality of groups of laminations of magnetic material, each of the groups forming a closed loop by joining two or more U-shaped laminated members, the joints for the plurality of groups of laminations being disposed in a plurality of groups around the periphery of the core, the joints for adjacent groups of laminations being positioned at opposite ends of the core, the joints for alternate groups of laminations being positioned at the same end of the core and a staggered arrangement within each group of joints so that the joints for adjacent laminations are separated by a greater distance longitudinally of the core than the distance separating the joints of alternate laminations. The leg portions of each U-shaped group of laminations are both short or both long and are arranged alternately in the build-up of the core.
