671,640. Textile drafting apparatus; weighting arrangements. AMBLER SUPERDRAFT, Ltd. Oct. 30, 1948 [Nov. 7, 1947], No. 29683/47. Class 120(ii) A pressure appplying device for a roller mounting of the kind in which a pair of rollers is supported on a shaft arranged in opentopped bearings and has pressure applied by a spring-loaded member adjustable by means of a thumb-screw has the spring-loaded member formed with two depressions of different depths, the shaft resting in the shallower depression during normal running and in the deeper when pressure is reduced by moving the spring-loaded member. When applied to feed rollers, the lower of which may be grooved as described in Specification 671,641, the upper rollers 13 are secured in pairs on shafts 22 arranged to bear in slots 23 and pressure is applied to each pair by a spring-loaded spindle 26 and a slotted member 29 freely mounted on the spindle 26. The slot in member 29 has two depressions 33, 34 of different depth and the pressure is adjusted for normal running by a wingnut 31 with the shallower depression 34 in engagement with the shaft 22. The invention may. be applied to the drafting apparatus described in Specification 671,633.
