Abstract
671,003. Elastic webbing. DOMINION CORSET CO., Ltd. Nov. 7, 1949 [June 11, 1949], No. 28510/49. Class 142(iv) Elastic webbing woven from elastic (covered rubber) and inelastic warps and inelastic weft has a recurring series of sections comprising; (a) an elastic section 7 in which the weft interweaves with both warps; (b) a three-ply section 8 in which the weft interlaces in plain weave with the inelastic warp Y to form top and bottom plies, and in leno weave with the elastic warp R to form a middle ply, the plies being united at the edges by the weft; (c) an inelastic twill-woven section 9 in which the elastic warp R is floated over the fabric; (d) a section 6 similar to the section 8. At the ends 6a, 8a of the three-ply sections, the weft is not interwoven with the elastic yarns, which are subsequently cut at 10-10, whereupon they contract, causing the ends to recede into the sections 6, 8. The webbing is cut into pieces at 14 to produce inelastic tabs T for sewing to garments.
