669,851. Corsets. EVERLASTIC, Ltd., and RAYNOR, H. A. April 28, 1950 [April 30, 1949], No. 11553/49. Class 141. [Also in Group VIII] A two-way stretch girdle knitted of textile and elastic threads has a band at one or each end incorporating laid-in elastic thread and in which the knitted loops are formed entirely of non-elastic thread so that the band is stretched in the direction of the width of the garment only. As shown, the lower band 2 preferably one-fifth of the length of the garment, comprises ribknitted courses A, B, C, D of non-elastic threads 5, an elastic weft thread 6 being laid-in in the courses B. In the major part 8 of the garment, an elastic thread 7 replaces the inelastic thread in course D, the two yarns being knitted together in several wales E, the laid-in elastic thread 6 also being provided in the courses B. The upper band 9 is knitted in the same way as the band 2. In a modification, the knitted elastic thread in the central part is provided as an additional course.
