Abstract

669,301. Reciprocating pumps. HAYWARD, TYLER & CO., Ltd., and HOWARD, G. P. E. May 25, 1948 [May 1, 1947], No. 11713/47. Class 102 (i) In a reciprocating pump, the piston 1 is reciprocated by a crank 5 connected by a link 6 to a lever 3 pivoted at 4. The lever passes through a hole in a trunnion 9 secured to the member 8 secured to the piston 1 and the stroke of the pump is varied by adjusting the pivot 4 so that the lever 3 slides through the trunnion. The pivot 4 is carried by an arm 12 on a sector 14 adjusted by a worm 15 ; the sector can be locked by a pin 37. The arm 12 can enter the hole in the trunnion so that the axes of the pivot 4 and the trunnion align and the stroke is zero. Arrangements are described wherein one or more pumps are mounted on a bedplate together with an electric motor for driving the crankshaft 19.
