Abstract

669,135. Piston valves. NAPIER, J. K., and TRUMEK, Ltd. Aug. 24, 1950 [Aug. 31, 1949], No. 22642/49. Class 135. A draw-off tap for an oil drum &c. comprises a drawn or extruded tubular body 12 threaded at its inner end for attachment to the drum 15 and having a swaged outlet 24 and a gland 16 with a groove for a rubber sealing ring 20. Extending through the gland is the stem 17 of a plunger 18 having a rubber sealing ring 19 and slidable in the body 12 to positions on either side of the outlet 24 to open and close the valve. A locking ring 22 with a rubber sealing ring 23 may be fitted to seal the tap to the drum.
