Abstract

1,203,983. Valves. H. H. M. J. SEGERS. 7 Dec., 1967 [12 Dec., 1966; 23 Jan., 1967], No. 55661/67. Heading F2V. A valve has a piston 2 of hard synthetic material surrounded by a cylindrical cover 4 of flexible and compressible synthetic material and an outer cylindrical cover of thin rigid material e.g. P.T.F.E. which has a low coefficient of friction with the valve body 1<SP>1</SP> of glass, metal or synthetic material. The covers 4, 5 fold over into a groove 2<SP>1</SP> of the piston which is integral with a cap 3 that is internally threaded and in engagement with external threads on the body 1<SP>1</SP>. The diameter of the piston with its covers is greater than that of the valve body interior. In modifications the piston is threaded in a bore of the cap,is downwardly flared, has its end received with clearance in a housing of the cap so as to be relatively rotatable and is formed with a flat end with rounded edges or a spherical end. In the ease of the piston threaded into a bore of the cap a depending annular projection on the cap sits on a sloping face of the piston to seal the valve when open.
