Abstract
745,844. Pinch cocks. COHEN, E. Sept. 24, 1954 [July 8, 1953], No. 18899/53. Class 135. A pinch cock comprises a rigid tubular body A housing an elastic tube F which, in the open position, is in peripheral contact with the body, a ball H or other plunger positioned in an aperture in the wall of tube A, and a ring M which is provided with a cam surface, e.g. it may be eccentrically mounted on the tube, so that as the ring is turned, the plunger is forced inwards to deform the elastic tube and shut off flow therethrough. The ring M is provided with projections Q to facilitate manipulation and with an index mark R to indicate when the valve is closed. As shown, the valve is applied to a metal tube A by which the hollow stock of a water-fed brush is attached to a hose pipe. A flange P on the tube F acts as a sealing washer for a hose end fitting screwed into socket D. The cam surface can be formed on a metal sleeve carrying the rubber handle B and acting in the manner of a twist grip.
