Abstract

668,715. Shaft couplings. SVENSKA TURBINFABRIKS AKTIEBOLAGET LJUNGSTROM. July 17, 1950, No. 17781/50. Class 80 (ii). In a flanged coupling between shafts 1, 2 of which at least the shaft 1 is tubular, the flange 3 of shaft 1 is directed radially inwards, the flange 4 of shaft 2 is directed radially outwards, and each connecting bolt 5 has an oblong-shaped head 20 such that the bolt, after insertion in flange 3, may be turned through 90 degrees from the position shown in Fig. 2 whereby the curved face 8 of the head engages an annular (or 'separate) recess 9 in the shaft 1 so as to lock the bolt against axial movement, the shaft 2 having an axially-extending flange 10 which, on assembly, engages the face 7 of the head 20 to prevent rotation of the bolt.
