668,509. Indicating liquid levels. HEALEY, D. M. and SPOONER, P. S. May 10, 1950, No. 11608/50. Class 123 (i). A dip-stick for a petrol tank &c. is made of plastics material and of cruciform cross-section and has one or more of its flanges 11 provided on the remote side thereof with graduations 12, the near or viewing side 13 of each flange being frosted by roughening so as to render it substantially opaque when dry but translucent when wetted. In a modification the dip-stick comprises a graduated brass &c. rod covered with a layer of plastics material the outer surface of which is roughened.
