668,046. Luggage-carriers. MARBY, W. July 4, 1950 [July 14, 19491, No. 16676/50. Class 136(i) A mounting device for a cycle luggage carrier a comprises a cap-like housing d serving as a gripping organ and having axially opposed notches d<SP>1</SP>, d.' in the side walls and at its rear a laterally open portion housing a resilient means c in which a piece of pipe e is embedded to serve as a bearing for a cross bolt b, the bolt protruding on both sides of the housing to rotatably support the two bevelled ends a<SP>1</SP>, a<SP>2</SP> of the luggage carrier side rails. The housing d may have a tubular rear portion. Fig. 3, supporting the bolt b or the bottom of the housing may be open, Fig. 5. and the bolt b supported in bores d' in the sides of the housing. The resilient means c may be a piece of rubber hose or a foam rubber body. The pipe e may be concentrically or eccentrically embedded in the resilient means. When the carrier is mounted on the bicycle the notches d<SP>1</SP>, d<SP>2</SP> are hooped to an existing cross piece f of the rear wheel fork and the ends a<SP>1</SP>, a<SP>2</SP> of the carrier bear against this cross piece. As shown in Fig. 3, an opening d<SP>3</SP> is provided in the front wall of the housing d to embrace a washer which rests on the cross piece f and is held in place by a bolt forming part of the mudguard fastenings.
