Class 102 (ii) A liquid raising device comprises upper and lower chambers 8, 9 respectively disposed in a bore hole or the like 1 and communicating through valves 17, 21 respectively with a common ascent pipe 14 and through inlet valves 25, 22 respectively with the surrounding liquid, each chamber communicating, through an air conduit 10, 11 respectively and a reversing slide valve, with a compressed air supply, the air conduit 11 passing through the upper chamber, and the two chambers being formed by pipes 3, 4 connected by a central body 5 in which is provided the inlet valve 25.
