677,486. Stopping pipe leaks. PREHODA, E. C. July 11, 1950 [Dec. 30, 1949], No. 17372/50. Class 99 (ii) A plastic sealing medium is forced through passages 26, 3C and 28, 32 into opposed annular grooves 16, 18 in flanges 12, 14, of conduits such as those used in well drilling, by plungers 48 screwed into valves 42 which are screwed into the flanges and are adapted to close the passages. The valves may have an apertured conical nose that seats against shoulders 38 of the passages. To detect leaks between the flanges pressure gauges may be inserted into the plunger recesses.
