667,760. Mercury switches. DAUZIEL, P., and RITON, E. May 10, 1950. [May 11, 1949]. No. 11654/50. Class 38 (v). An electromagnetically-operated mercury switch adapted to operate satisfactorily even in an inclined position due to rolling or pitching of an aircraft or ship comprises a tube A containing mercury which rises when core C descends so as to enter pockets containing contacts G, H which are externally connected to each other, thereby completing a circuit from an electrode J. Other contacts O, P may also be engaged and the core may be surrounded by a glass sheath I and have a guiding disc M (Fig. 7) a swell as a plain disc N which nearly fits the tube A and so retards the core movement. The core may be made to descend either by the energization of an electromagnet D as shown or by the deenergization of an electromagnet, Figs. 4, 5 (not shown).
