Abstract

667,601. Mounting electric motors. PATCHETT, G. W., and ELECTRIX, Ltd. Feb. 9, 1950, No. 3364/50. Class 35. A vacuum cleaner comprises a cylindrical body 1 with two removable end caps 2, 6, each adapted to be securely held in position by separate single locking devices. The front end cap 2 is locked by a spring catch 20 and the rear end cap 6 by a non-detachable nut 32 bearing against the inner end portion 33 of the cap 6. Vibration is eliminated by providing (i) a rubber band 27 between the rear edge of the fan casing 4 and a casing portion 26; (ii) a resilient ring 40 between the other end of the fan casing 24 and a disc 39 placed at the back of a dished plate 21; (iii) a rubber gromet 29, Fig. 3 (not shown), mounted within an end-plate of the motor rear bearing; and (iv) by resilient sealing elements 14, 18, 25. The undercarriage is electrically isolated from the casing 1 by rubber gromets 38, Fig. 4 (not shown).
