Abstract
666,850. Cooling discharge apparatus. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and NELSON, H. M. Dec. 3, 1948 [Dec. 3, 1947], No. 31933/47. Class 39 (i). [Also in Group XXVIII] High - frequency apparatus, e.g. a valve or coil, is cooled by fluid supplied to, or discharged by, coaxial insulating tubes 3, 4 connected to a conducting tube or coupling 1 which forms part of, or is connected to, the apparatus, the inner tube 3 carrying the fluid and the protective outer tube 4 carrying away any leaking fluid, a conducting surface 17 being connected to the coupling 1 to flare outwardly therefrom and surround the tubes 3, 4 to reduce the voltage gradient at the junction of the tubes and coupling. The brass coupling 1 is formed with a cylindrical part 5, a nut-shaped part 6, a threaded part 7 and a taper 9 over which the polythene tube 3 is stretched and clamped by the nut 11 and a sleeve 15 having a tapered bore. The polythene tube 4 is stretched over a tapered part of the sleeve 15 and clamped by a nut 16 and a sleeve 14. A cone 17 of brass sheet having an angle of 25-40 degrees is soldered to the sleeve 14.
