Abstract
665,946. Dust expelling in industrial processes. SCOTT & WILLIAMS, Inc. Oct. 3, 1949 [Oct. 4, 1948], No. 25333/49. Class 8 (ii) Pneumatic cleaning . of a circular knitting machine having a stationary needle cylinder with independent needles 3, 4 about which revolve one or more lint collecting brushes 9, comprises a stationary intermittently actuated compressed air jet 13 which is located adjacent to the cylinder so as to blow lint from the brushes 9 when they pass the jet. A second jet 14 blows lint from yarn detectors 10, and both jets are supplied from a duct 18 and are controlled' when a normally closed valve 15 is opened on energizing a solenoid 17, which may be controlled by a clock motor actuated switch 22 having say a two minute cycle. Alternatively the solenoid is energized when a lug 24 on the main pattern chain swings a pivoted lever 25 over a roller 26 to close a switch 27. Either circuit may be used at will by connecting them alternately into the current supply solenoid circuit by a two point switch 28. The solenoid is further controlled by a master switch 19 under the influence of the starting lever 20 of the machine.
