Abstract

801,690. Knitting-machines. MELLOR BROMLEY & CO., Ltd. Sept. 6, 1956 [Sept. 19, 1955], No. 26718/55. Class 74 (2). An air compressor 29 is located on a circular knitting-machine and driven from the gear drive for the take-down mechanism. A flexible connection 34 has a nozzle 37 for manual manipulation to remove fluff or lint from parts of a machine. The nozzle 37 can also be plugged into a tubular ring 33 having downwardly-directed nozzles so that air is directed at a low pressure on to the yarn feeders or other components requiring to be kept free from lint or fluff. A further flexible connection 46 permits compressed air to be supplied to an annular chamber 44, the outer flanged portion 48 being rotated around the inner portion 43 so that a nozzle 49 projecting from the portion 48 periodically passes and blows air against the stop motion 28 and other yarncontrolling elements mounted on the head of the machine. The portion 48 is gear driven through a flexible drive 51 from the dial drive of the machine. Specification 797,677 is referred to.
