[Also in Group XXXIV] A wheel and disc brake assembly, for aircraft in which the wheels must be retracted into a wing of thin section, comprises two fixed axially spaced plate like supporting members 34, on which the wheel 14 rotates by bearings 50, 52 and is characterised in that the disc brake is contained within the cavity between the members 34 and is entirely within the radial dimension of these members. The two members 34 are secured together by bolts 26 and torque pins 42 also provide resistance to relative rotation. The brake, as shown, is applied by an annular fluid pressure actuated piston 100.
