Abstract
665,340. Positive clutches. MACLAUGHLAN, H. V. H. Sept. 22, 1949, No. 1216/51. Divided out of 665,270. Class 80 (ii). Axial movement of a slidable dog 28 of a clutch 26, 28, driving the ground wheels of an agricultural machine is described in Specification 665,270, [Group I], is permitted by the lateral flexibility of a chain 31 which drivingly connects the parallel input shaft 33 with a sprocket 30 integral with the clutchdog 28 and slidable with it on a stationary sleeve 22, which,also forms internally a bearing for the output shaft 20 on which is pinned the complementary driven clutch-dog 26. The clutching surfaces are a pin 34 and hole 35 in the dogs 28, 26 respectively. Actuation is through a forkended lever 38, turned about a fixed fulcrum 41 by a manually operated slidable rod 47 and biased to both extremes by an over-centre toggle comprising a forked pin pivoting at 39 on the lever and having one limb 37 on each side of the lever, each limb 37 carrying an expansion coil-spring 44 and sliding in a fixed bracket 42.
