Abstract
698,289. Friction clutches. SIBA-SOC. ITALIANA BREVETTI AUTOMOBILISTICI AR.L., and KREIS, F. May 15, 1951 [May 13, 1950], No. 11328/51. Class 80 (ii). Manual control means are provided for holding inoperative the weights 13 of a centrifugal clutch normally connecting a driving shaft 1 with a gear 16, and comprise an axially movable disc 9 carrying pins 11 engageable with holes in the weights 13 to hold them in their innermost position. The shaft 1 is slotted at 7 and 10 and has an axial bore receiving a connecting rod 3 which is pinned at its respective ends to the disc 9 and to a ring 5 operated by a control lever 4. Unless positively moved by the lever 4, the pins 11 are held in the holes, during rotation, by friction due to the centrifugal force on the weights 13.. A tension spring 14 controls the weights, and it is stated that the clutch may be of multiple disc (as shown) or other known type.
