Abstract

641,486. Brake wear adjustment devices. ASSOCIATED MECHANICAL INVENTIONS, Ltd. (Soc. d'Inventions Aeronautiques et Mecaniques S.I.A.M.). Sept. 3, 1947, No. 24355. [Class 103 (i)] In a wear adjustment device for disc brakes, of the type described in Specification 566,744, in which a plurality of one-way clutch devices are grouped around the axis of the brake, one element of each of which is connected with lost motion between a fixed and axially slidable part of the brake to maintain a constant clearance when the brake is released, each clutch device comprises a rod 51 attached to one part of the brake, for instance the movable plate member 38, a first conical clutch member 58 coaxial with the rod 51 secured to another relatively movable part of the brake 26, and a second co-operating conical clutch member 59 to engage the rod and the first conical member when the brake is released, the construction being such that a limited lost motion takes place between the clutch members between the declutched and clutched positions. As shown in Fig. 3, the two clutch members 72, 71 may be located on the movable brake pressure ring 38 instead of on the fixed brake member 26. The clutch members are pressed into engagement with one another by springs 60, 73.
