Abstract

665,252. Unwinding or stripping waste yarn from bobbins, packages &c. BRITISH CELANESE, Ltd. Sept. 7, 1949 [Sept. 9, 1948], No. 23205/49. Classes 120(ii) and 120(iii) Waste yarn is. drawn from a bobbin or package 16 through a n air nozzle 21 and delivered through a conduit 24 to a waste can 31. A number of packages or bobbins may be mounted on a rotatable table 13, the yarn being guided to the nozzle by a rotatable guide ring 18. The air nozzle comprises a body portion 32 having an air inlet 33, the air supply being controlled by an adjustable stem 37 mounted in an adaptor 34 screwed to the body portion 32 and having a conical end co-operating with a seat 43 in the body portion which regulates the supply of air to the central bore 46 of an end fitting 44. A shoulder 48 is formed on the conical end of the stem 37 and abuts the end 49 of the adaptor 34 to limit its movement and thereby limiting the maximum supply of air. The bore 46 is a continuation of the passageway for the yarn being drawn by the air through the central bore of the stem 37. The yarn entry end of the stem 37 is suitably flared as at 39 and the exit end of the fitting 44 is chamfered to avoid catching the yarn.
