Class 120(ii) A drafting head for a textile spinning frame has suction orifices individual to each thread and means for traversing the orifices in phase with the threads. In one embodiment, Fig. 1, an apertured tube 17 is mounted behind the threads on axles 17a permitting axial movement when a suction duct 19 and branch 20 are traversed by a bar 13 through a support 21. Alternatively one or both of the axles 17a may be connected by a knuckle joint to a lever actuated by a rotatable cam. In another embodiment, nozzles carrying underclearer rollers are mounted on a duct which is traversed in a similar manner, but in a further embodiment, Fig. 3, each nozzle 23 is connected by a spring 31, rod 28, arm 29 to a traverse bar support 30. Each nozzle 23 carries a saddle 32 forming a mounting for an underclearer roller 16, held against the lower front drafting roller 8 by the spring 31. A pipe line 24 made of a thermoplastic material, e.g. a cellulose acetate compound, connects each nozzle 23 to a duct 19, by a joint having a limited universal movement and including a ferrule 26a and a cork sleeve 27. The pipe lines 24 have reduced cross-sections at their inner ends 38 to compensate for variations in the suction value within the duct 18. Specification 652,661 is referred to.
