Abstract

664,848. Paper pulp compositions. A. S. P. CHEMICAL CO., Ltd. Feb. 22, 1950 [March 18, 1949], No. 7487/49. Class 96. Paper, card, cardboard, &c. is made from paper pulp to which has been added ground-up plant substances, e.g. those of tropical or semitropical growth such as ground nut husks, berries, coconut shell, cashew waste, coffee waste, pineapple parings, or banana trash, which may be bleached, alkalies, e.g. sodium or ammonium carbonate, being added to form alkali pectates as sols before or after addition to the pulp, and metallic salts, e.g. copper, zinc or aluminium chloride, or acids, e.g. oxalic or citric being added to alter the pectate material to a gel before or after addition to the pulp.
