664,102. Valves. ROHRBAU MANNESMANN, GES. June 1, 1949 [Dec. 17, 1948], No. 14766/49. Class 135. A device for the intermittent delivery of water in which a valve, controlling the outlet from a storage tank 2, Fig. 1, is formed by the small end 4 of a differential piston 3 having its large end 6 under a constant back pressure, is characterised in that the valve seat is formed by an elastic cushion 9, Fig. 2. Water is fed from the pipe 1 to compress air in the chamber 7a so as to load the large end of the piston. Water then passes into the tank 2 and compresses air at the top 2a. When the pressure becomes great enough, it opens the valve and passes to the outlet 5. The cushion is encased by a metal ring 10 while the valve 4 slides tightly for a short distance in the outlet as at 11.
