Abstract
663,935. Centrifugal pumps. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. April 11, 1949 [April 23, 1948], No. 9773/49. Class 110(i) [Also in Groups XIII, XXIX and XXXIV] A centrifugal impeller employed as a governor pump in a hydraulic governing system for a steam turbine (see Group XXIX) comprises a disc 34 with a series of radial drillings 35 extending from the eye 36 to the periphery and a number of projections 34a on the periphery to impart a high tangential velocity to the liquid in the annular space 33 between the disc and its housing. Two pressures are obtained for control purposes, viz. the total pressure received by a scoop 38 and static pressure picked up by a connection 39. Specification 659,643, [Group XXIX], is referred to.
