663,832. Porous rubber. CAVALIERI, M Nov. 24, 1947 [Feb. 14, 1946; Oct. 13, 1946], Nos. 31121/47 and 31122/47. Class 70 Cellular articles are produced by heating a mixture of natural, synthetic or reclaimed rubber and sawdust without pressure until the mix expands with formation of cells and then continuing heating with application of pressure to vulcanize the mix. In examples, sawdust or a mixture of sawdust and peat is added to a mix containing a rubber, plasticizer, zinc oxide, mercaptobenzthiazole disulphide, tetra-ethyl thiuram monosulphide, aldol naphthylamine and sulphur and the whole submitted to a baking period of 10 minutes at 140‹C. in a mould without application of pressure and then to a 5 minute baking process at 140‹C. at a pressure sufficient to keep the mould closed and finally to a 7 minute baking at 155‹C. to complete vulcanization.
