Abstract
663,747. Filling and draining tanks. PARKER APPLIANCE CO. May 28, 1948 [May 29, 1947], No. 14404/48. Class 21. [Also in Group XXIX] A fitting through which a tank is filled or drained comprises a housing having an inlet or outlet 11 controlled by a valve 17, and inlet ports 30 controlled by a fluid pressure actuated valve 35. In filling the tank, a nozzle as described in Specification 663,749, is attached to the housing sleeve 13. The opening of the nozzle valve 76 raises the valve 17 and the liquid pressure opens the valve 35 to permit liquid to enter the tank. The valve 35 has a leak-off port 43 communicating with a float controlled valve 50 at the top of the tank, through a lead 45 when the tank is filled, the valve 50 is closed by the float 53 and pressure accumulates above the valve 35, permitting it to be closed by its spring 41. In draining the tank, the nozzle is fitted, its valve opened and liquid pressure in the tank opens flap valves 24 against their springs 26a to permit the tank to empty.
