[Also in Group VI] Apparatus for the disinfection of water comprises an outer vessel 1 adapted to be emptied by pouring, and containing silver particles or minute silvered bodies, and a second receptacle 5 disposed within the first vessel and adapted to be filled through an extension 2 of the first vessel, the second receptacle being in communication with the interior of the first vessel by way of an outlet 7 so disposed that the contents of the second receptacle remain therein when water is poured out of the first vessel. The second receptacle may also contain the silver particles, etc. The extension 2 may consist of a wire mesh tube surrounded by a porous or perforated cylinder 3 completely filled with the silver particles &c. and may have an extension 12 dipping into the receptacle 5.
