Abstract

795,248. Purifying water. VAUXHALL MOTORS, Ltd. June 12, 1956 [June 15, 1955], No. 17162/55. Class 46. A water purifying de vice for treating tap water so that it may be used in topping up batteries comprises a container 1, reaching to near the bottom of container 14, containing a cation exchange resin 5 and an anion exchange resin 6, and having perforations 3 at the bottom. The container 1 has an elongated neck 2, passing through the stopper 9 of the tap water container 14, and connected to a standard type nozzle 11. The tap water percolates through the resin into the container 1 and the whole apparatus is tipped to pour off purified water. The stopper 9 contains a vent hole 10 which is closed on tilting the container either by a gravity valve or manually. The containers are preferably made of transparent material so that the liquid levels may be observed. The neck 2 of the container 1 may itself form the stopper of the water container 14, Specification 780,989 is referred to.
