1,064,010. Apparatus for making coffee or the like. MIKO P.V.B.A. April 15, 1965 [April 21, 1964 (2); March 24, 1965; April 1, 1965], No. 16295/65. Heading A4D. [Also in, Division B8] A cartridge (18) (Fig; 3, not shown) or (23) (Fig. 5, not shown) in which ground coffee or similar material is enclosed between upper and lower filter discs, is sealed by the pressure of water poured into a vessel containing the cartridge and integral either with the cartridge or with a support by means of which the device is supported on a suitable receptacle. The vessel may have weak pleated walls (2) (Fig. 1, not shown) integral with the cartridge and supported by an outer wall (1) integral with the support 8 by which the device is supported on a cup. Alternatively the vessel (30) (Fig. 5, not shown) may be integral with the support, and the cartridge formed with resilient walls 28 which jam against the walls of the vessel. In still a further embodiment portions (19) (Fig. 4, not shown) of the cartridge engage the walls of the vessel (11) which is integral with the support (14). The vessel may be bottomless or have a perforated bottom. The walls of the cartridge may be translucent or transparent.
